The expression Good Feng Shui indicates a space that is balanced, harmonious, lucky, supportive and life enhancing. Bad Feng Shui expresses the opposite.

Since Feng Shui is about the flow of Chi (life's energy) one can distinguish between Sheng Chi - vital energy, good and beneficial Chi, that causes good Feng Shui and Sha Chi - harmful and destructive Chi, that causes bad Feng Shui.

Sheng Chi flows through all living things meandering in curved lines, bringing with it good luck. Some generators of Sheng Chi are being close to water, being well protected by the landscape, balance of the five elements, flying star positioning, personal adaptation of the inhabitants to the natal chart of the house, harmonious relationships etc'..

Sha Chi moves in straight lines and brings with it bad luck.  Some causes for Sha Chi are glaring lights, sharp noises, charged emotions, pointed objects and lack of privacy, location near hospitals, cemeteries etc'.

TIPS

  • Never place a mirror directly opposite the front door (Unless specifically advised by a FS expert). also be aware that mirrors opposite each other cause conflict.
  • Avoid clutter. Clutter accumulates stagnate energy and creates Sha Chi.
  • Try and avoid the front door of the house to line up directly with the back door as the Sheng Chi coming in from the front escapes from the house.
  • Avoid Poison Arrows - bad energy caused by sharp corners, edges, beams or objects, both indoors and outdoors. They can cause oppressive , destructive or disruptive energy.
  • It is very auspicious to place symbols near the main door "the Chi mouth". Some examples: A large empty decorative vase to invite  "Big luck" to the house; 9 Chinese coins for wealth and good luck; A laughing Buddha or some other bright colored artwork, facing the main door to welcome and enhance the chi entering the house.
  • Bathrooms should not be located in the center of the house, should not face or be in close proximity to the main door.
  • Keep  bathroom doors closed at all times and the toilet seats down and covered.
  • A space clearing - energy cleaning is recommended, even in homes with good Feng Shui. This takes care of the energy that our surroundings absorb as a result of human activities, events that effect us throughout our lives. These energies linger and affect the good Feng Shui.
  • Avoid dead energy in your home. Dead flowers, dried flowers or twigs (silk flowers are fine).
  • Colors - be very careful about your choice of colors for the house. colors are a very powerful element for creating good or bad Chi. If you don't know your colors, at least refrain from applying dominant colors. Beware of the color Peach in your bedroom if you are married... According to the Chinese "Peach-blossom luck" indicates a tendency to adultery. A single person however, will enjoy an active social life but will probably find it difficult to find a life partner.
  • To lighten up and disperse accumulated stuffy energies use energizer such as candles placed in the corners and the center of the house, burn aromatic oils or incense, open windows, use bells, gongs or clapping sounds.
